Cleaning Fishing Gear
Hate cleaning your fishing gear:
The solution is at hand.
Salt build-up is the mortal enemy of your salt-water fishing tackle. From reels to lures, if salt is not effectively removed, it will ultimately cause damage and either cost you money in repairs or worse still, loose the big one.
SX50 is a non-toxic, water-soluble compound that has the unique ability to protect your tackle by de-activating, dissolving and removing the salt build-up on your gear. When left to dry a clear non-oily coating remains on the surface to protect your gear from further damage.

A light coating applied by a trigger spray is all that is required to keep your equipment in top condition. Should your tackle already show the signs of salt build-up an overnight soak in a 15:1 solution of SX50 and water will remove the undesired corrosion. When soaking your reel we suggest you tighten up your drag before soaking and when removed loosen the drag and allow plenty of time for your reel to dry.
SX50 is safe to use on hooks, lures, line and, as the boys from the Straddie Classic Fishing Competition said, it works a treat to stop salt build-up on your sunnies.
SX50 has many other applications, one of which is flushing your cooling systems on your outboard, but that is another story.
SX50 is available in 1 litre, 5 litre & 20 litre Concentrate.
Wetsuits and Life Jackets

Salt is particularly harsh on these items. We have found from personal experience that giving your wetsuits and lifejackets a short soak in SX50 solution extends the life of this equipment dramatically.
Most wetsuits are soft and supple when new and once exposed to salt they start to become stiff and board like.
Use SX50 on your suits and lifejackets and they stay supple and last at least twice as long as you would expect.
Jetski Maintenance
Exterior Washing

Jetski maintenance is much the same as a boat or car. To keep the exterior finish looking its best, mix up a bucket of BUSTER50 and use a sponge to wash over the external body of your ski. Leave BUSTER50 on for a short period without allowing to dry, rinse with fresh water and chamois off the excess water. The active ingredients will remove the salt and grime, protect any metal components and protect the wax and gel coat finishes. BUSTER50 need only be mixed up at 32:1 for general washing of your Jetski. Should you have a heavy build-up or for the first wash of an older Ski 16:1 is the recommended first application.
Trailer Care

Galvanized Jetski trailers suffer from the same salt attack and should be treated with SX50 after every use. A 35:1 batch in a trigger spray bottle, or pressure sprayer will give you enough solution to treat your trailer and keep the corrosive effects of salt at bay. Once you have flushed out and treated the engine’s cooling system, wash the Jetski then treat the trailer, wheels and hubs with the SX50. You can use BUSTER50 on the Trailer, however do not rinse it off. In this case let it dry on to allow the protectants to remain on the surface.
Engine Cooling System Flushing

Flushing SX50 solution through the raw water cooling system will remove the corrosive salt, leave a triple protectant system behind to protect your valuable Jetski and allow your motor to run at the correct temperature increasing engine life and reliability. Most Jetskis have a flush fitting built in making it very easy to connect our SX50 Injector in the garden hose then onto the engine flush connection. Simply follow the dosage and flush time guide on the back of the Injector card, run the water, add the SX50 to the bowl, connect and wait the required time, then shut the water and engine (if running) down and the process is complete.
SCUBA Gear Service
Salt Corrosion:
NOW A THING OF THE PAST!
SX50: MAKES MAINTENENCE EASY
SCUBA Gear Service is written by a 20 year veteran of diving who has dived in some very remote and unforgiving environments, so for new or inexperienced divers this information should be taken on board.
There are many views and ideas about the best method to keep the SCUBA gear free of corrosive salts.

Some divers use warm water, overnight soaking, a cup of vinegar in the bucket of water, wetsuit wash, some partially effective, others a waste of time.
It is a scientific fact that water alone cannot remove salt effectively from most surfaces.
This product is the single most effective “Equipment Corrosion Management System” available today. SX50 is water soluble and non-toxic and will not harm any part of your Diving Equipment, BCD’s, Camera Housings, Computers, etc.
After 18 years of professional involvement in the diving industry and 16 years as a service technician I have found NO other product that rivals SX50. I have found it excellent on anything that goes in or near salt water.
The other fantastic feature of SX50 is that it will keep once the concentrate is made up, meaning you can use it several times before you need to discard the solution. One litre of concentrate makes up 35 litres of usable solution.
The following is our SX50 maintenance procedure for the centre’s hire equipment and this simple process keeps the gear in pristine condition.
We use a 60 litre plastic drum with a lid, pre-mixed with SX50 at 35:1. When equipment returns from hire the regulators and inflator assemblies go into the drum for between 5 and 20 minutes. The gear is then removed, and hung up to dry.
Yes, that is it. SX50 effectively removes salt from any surface and once dry, a fine protective coating remains on the surfaces until the gear goes out on hire. No rinsing is required and this product is environmentally safe.
For equipment that has corrosion build-up we have found that a 20:1 solution, with an overnight soak, is all that is required to remove the salt build-up. Inspect your gear and if clean remove or return to the solution for a further soak.
Once the equipment is clean and free of corrosion, a regular dip after each dive trip will keep your valuable diving gear in tiptop condition.
Yes, you do need to have your equipment serviced regularly.
SX50 will ensure that each time you go diving your equipment will perform well and there will be no damage caused by salt water.
A simple, one-step, low cost process that will give you piece of mind knowing your equipment will not suffer from salt corrosion.
